Corrective exercise
Corrective exercise will identify postural dysfunction and faulty bio-mechanics (e.g. squat, lunge, push, pull, bend, twist and gait). Core and spinal function are also assessed so that the patient can obtain an exercise program specific to their needs and goals.
Pre and post operative exercise and rehabilitation
Going through a surgical procedure is a difficult experience for your body. The team at The Health Equation can help you through the process by working with you in preparing your body for surgery. There are specific exercises that should be done before and after surgery to strengthen your muscles and joints so that they can cope with the stress of surgery. In many cases (mainly degenerative conditions), a specifically designed exercise plan can even prevent the need for immediate surgery.
Soft tissue / massage therapy
Sports Massage – Is the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body. It helps maintain functional fitness and relax the body. A sports massage is beneficial for everyone from athletes to anyone that leads an active life, has a stressful job or generally feels tight.
Neuromuscular Therapy – applies concentrated thumb/finger pressure to “trigger points” to break cycles of muscle spasm and pain and to improve general function.
Pilates
Pilates is a method of exercise developed by the late Joseph Pilates. He explored many forms of exercise, initially for his own benefit, using what he found to work for him, to develop a system of exercise for others. Essentially this system aims to retrain the body to use its muscles for their proper functions, and to move with correct movement patterns and in correct alignment.
