Three parts to the equation

The Health Equation comprises three professional teams, liaising and exchanging relevant information where necessary. Naturally, we are all regulated by our respective regulatory bodies and follow strict professional ethical codes. Each team member carries professional indemnity/medical malpractice insurance.

Diagnostic Consultant

Responsible for identifying accurately what your problem is, and developing an appropriate treatment strategy. Our Diagnostic Consultant in Complementary Medicine, Mr. Gerry Gajadharsingh will refer you to the most appropriate practitioner(s) to fulfill this. Occasionally we refer outside the practice when clinically needed – such as for surgery or specialist investigation. With your permission, we may need to contact your own GP (NHS or Private) to liaise over results of previous investigations, feedback on investigations organised by our Diagnostic Consultant, or referral to another consultant, this is usually necessary when patients have private medical insurance cover.

Osteopathy is so much more than just the treatment of bad backs! Whilst Osteopaths have an enviable reputation at diagnosing and treating many musculo-skeletal disorders (MSD), the application of an integrated osteopathic approach (IOA) can help in the management of many complex health care problems.

Gerry Gajadharsingh qualified from the British School of Osteopathy (BSO), as an Osteopath 25 years ago and has practised in London’s West end since then. He has completed modules in nutrition and advanced pathophysiology at Masters Level. He has lectured extensively at both undergraduate and postgraduate level in the UK, Europe, Asia, Canada and Australia in Osteopathic Medicine. He was a Privy Council appointee to the first General Osteopathic Council.

Gerry is a keen fencer, having represented Trinidad and Tobago at World Youth and Commonwealth level and was Great Britain Vets Champion Cat 1 Foil (2010), he is also a passionate downhill skier and competes at club level in tennis. He was Consultant Osteopath to London and South Division Rubgy Colts for 8 years and for several years ran the multidisplinary sports clinic at the BSO.

Gerry is registered with most health insurance companies exlcuding AXA PPP and BUPA.

His appointment diary is available all day Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday am at Wimpole Street and on Monday and alternate Friday pm/Saturday am at Bowers Cottage.

After the Diagnostic Consultation Gerry will recommend one of 2 clinical care pathways:

Simple/Discrete- you will simply be recommended to the most appropriate therapy for your condition.

Complex-Many of Gerry’s new patients have complex clinical problems, this often means Gerry spending time reading pre consultation notes/referral reports and investigation results. It may also mean arranging additional investigations, reading the results, interpreting those results and then formulating an appropriate care package taking into account individual  patient preferences, budgets and the level of care needed. This is charged for on an ad hoc basis of £80 per 20 minutes (London) and £50 (Amersham) of time spent. Depending on the care package agreed treatment can include treatment from Gerry and from other The Health Equation clinical tem members.

Telephonic/email consultations will be charged in blocks of 10 minutes at £40 (London) and £25 (Amersham).

If a request for a written report/letter is made by patients a minimum fee of £50 will be charged, depending on the length and complexity of the report.

The majority of his new patients book a 60min initial consultation.

Feedback from a Patient Survey 2012:

81% of our patients self pay for their consultation and treatment.

72% of our patients only needed to see 1 member of The Health Equation clinical team and the average number of treatments necessary is between 4-6 treatment sessions.

65% of our patients come to us specifically for our integrated approach to medicine.

96.6% of our patients rated the care they receive at The Health Equation as excellent (74.6%) or very good (22%).

58% of patients say they had received an unclear diagnosis from their previous clinician.

75% of our patients had previously seen at least 1 other healthcare clinician for their problem, many having seen several other clinicians including their GP, Medical Consultant, Physio or other clinician.

60% of patients had multiple symptoms.
